Making a Glorious Reality
Gemilang has been a deeply impactful piece of music - an anthem of inspiration and triumph - that has moved us since the very first time we heard Jaclyn Victor perform it 20 years ago. This year, its English version, titled Glorious, was released and it is every bit as amazing!
I'm looking forward to having all of those feels kicked up a notch next week at Tutan Entertainment's The Art of Sound.
The concert, which promises to take audiences on a journey exploring the textures and emotions that music can evoke, will feature an exciting finale: Jaclyn Victor will be premiering the orchestral version of Glorious with live symphonic accompaniment by the Tutan Festival Orchestra.
Bringing artistic vision to life
This orchestral version is the product of artistic collaboration between Tutan Entertainment's conductor laureate Kevin Field and Azhad Sulaiman, arranger and orchestrator extraordinaire.
As an experienced and sought-after conductor, Kevin brings a vision for overall sonic impact, and with this piece, it meant creating a balance of grandeur and nuance to truly explore the emotional highs and lows of this already moving piece of music.
Azhad, whose arrangements have resonated through major venues such as the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas and Istana Budaya, and broadcast on platforms including the Radio Television Malaysia Orchestra (ORTM) and Astro's Gegar Vaganza, brings this vision to life in a fully orchestrated score for the orchestra.
Through the 80-piece Tutan Festival Orchestra, this version of Glorious promises to capture the same power and emotional depth as the versions we know and love, while also introducing new layers of intensity that can only be expressed through the orchestra.
Experience this premiere live at The Art of Sound coming up on April 19th and 20th at PJPAC, 1Utama.

When asked about future plans for this orchestral version of Glorious, Tutan Entertainment's Events Manager Woon Sze Ting shared that "We hope this version resonates beyond the concert hall and introduces more people to the beauty of orchestral music. We're exploring the possibility of future live performances and collaborations that could bring this arrangement to new audiences. Whether in another concert setting, or as part of special projects, we see this as just the beginning of Glorious in its orchestral form."
